About Catskill Mountain Christian Center

All churches and denominations have distinctions that make them unique and identifiable. Some of what makes CMCC distinct is:

Contemporary Style Worship

We worship using guitars, keyboards, drums, and modern songs. The lyrics are just as holy and wonderful as hymns, but the music style is modern. In our worship services people are free to lift their hands in praise to God. It is generally a more expressive type of worship than a traditional service.

Ministry Involvement

We invite all of our members to participate in the ministry. We believe that a pastor's job includes teaching people how to be Jesus' hands and feet to our world. Leadership training and development is essential to the work of CMCC.

Our Doctrine

CMCC positions itself in the evangelical theological stream of Protestant Christianity. We adhere to the Apostles' Creed and to the core doctrines of the Protestant Reformation, namely the ultimate and essential authority of the Scriptures for Christian faith and practice, justification by faith, and the priesthood of all believers. We believe in the Holy Trinity (that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit), that Jesus was born of a virgin, that He was physically raised from the dead, and that an individual's personal relationship to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior determines that individual's eternal destiny in heaven or hell. The fulfillment of Jesus' great commission to make disciples of all nations is central to the focus of CMCC

Charismatic Gifts

We believe that all of the original biblical gifts of the Holy Spirit are still available today. I Corinthians chapters 12 - 14, Romans 12.

Our History

CMCC originated as non-denominational charismatic Bible study in the early 1980's. Growing slowly but steadily the first several years, the group became chartered as a church and affiliated with Antioch Churches and Ministries by the end of the decade. In 1991 a building in nearby Dunraven was purchased and renovated creating a church and fellowship hall. During the 90's growth continued along with many new and exciting ministry endeavors including charity work, concerts, radio ministry, youth events, extensive renovations and an addition to the building, home groups, missions trips to various nations, guest speakers, conferences and the opening of Catskill Mountain Christian Academy. A particular high point was joining other community groups in relief work during a local flood tragedy in1996. Hundreds of man hours were coordinated and thousands of dollars in emergency assistance was raised and distributed to the needy in our region by CMCC as a result of that devastating event.

As CMCC’s growth continued an ideal property on Main Street, Margaretville was purchased and the present multi-purpose building was renovated by December 2000. The Community Assistant Program (CAP) was added shortly after providing food to low income families in our region. Since then, a chapel has been constructed, rounding out our ability to provide a full-service ministry center for our region.

Our Affiliation

Catskill Mountain Christian Center is a member of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and also maintains affiliation with a number of other outside sources. Community Involvement

Senior citizen's ministry, wacky paper hats, live nativities, shut-in visitation, nursing home ministry, and National Day of Prayer community service are just a few of the regular community outreaches of CMCC. As a member of the Greater Margaretville Area Interfaith Council, CMCC also participates in the following community activities: monthly minister's meetings, regional food pantry, Good Friday service, Easter sunrise service, Thanksgiving service, and Baccalaureate service.
